In continuation of the enthusiastic support and interest towards the artist Kong Sookja’s solo show “The Fruits of Perseverance” held in Paris in October 2019, Siat Gallery will once again present the mesmerizing ottchil works in Seoul, South Korea. The exhibition will showcase captivating ottchil artworks that capture Kong Sookja's originality and mastery of material achieved through great perseverance.
Artist Profile
KONG SOOKJA
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Kong Sookja is an artist who works with Korean lacquer, also known as ottchil, mother of pearls and eggshells. She is the pioneer in reinterpreting ottchil art with a contemporary approach.
She is currently an active member of Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Korean Contemporary Art Shinghi Society, International Art Committee of Korea, and Seoul Fine Arts Association
